KINDNESS IS A CHOICE

Sometimes we underestimate the impact of what even just one decision of kindness can have, and the ripple effect of positivity that flow into many people's lives. See this short story below for example...

The rain was relentless, matching the mood of Elena, who stood under a leaking awning, having just lost her job. She was shivering, cold, and broke.
Across the street, a small café was brightly lit. Elena saw an elderly man struggling to close a massive umbrella, his bag of groceries slipping from his arm. Without thinking about her own problems, she ran across the street, grabbed the umbrella, and held the bag while he regained his balance.
"Thank you, dear," the man said, smiling warmly. "I was about to have a very bad afternoon."
Elena helped him to his car, ensuring his groceries stayed dry. She expected nothing in return, but the man—Mr. Henderson—noticed her worn-out shoes and shivering frame. He went into the café, bought a steaming cup of coffee and a sandwich, and handed them to her. "For your trouble," he said.
With warmth returning to her hands, Elena felt a flicker of hope. Minutes later, she saw a young woman on a scooter, panicked, searching the sidewalk—she had dropped her wallet. Elena, having just received kindness, walked over and pointed to where it had slipped behind a trash can.
"Oh my gosh, I would have lost my rent money!" the young woman said. She was a manager at a nearby bookstore. "Please, let me buy you a lunch or coffee."
Elena smiled, pointing to the coffee in her hand. "Someone already did. Just pass it on."
The young woman, inspired by Elena’s selfless act, went back to her shop and decided to hire an extra staff member for the rainy season, picking a young student she had previously turned away, knowing she could now help them out.
One small decision to help a stranger with an umbrella had changed four lives in a single afternoon.
